Why Work?

Why do I work?

Aside from the obvious .....money, is there really a point?

When I was in high school, I had grandiose plans for changing the world. Yep, I would put my plan into action in college and then my life would really start when I graduated.

Fast forward a a decade and reality has set in. I won't be changing the world, I won't make a million, and I won't feel a profound sense of accomplishment.

If parents and professors were honest, here is the reality they would tell kids at 18:

  • You probably won't like working.
  • You will get stuck working for and around people you despise.
  • You will never believe you are paid your worth.
  • Cheaters DO prosper.
  • All's fair in love and war ......... and work.
  • The line between having a career and a job is short.
  • That pain in your back isn't aging. It's a knife. Maybe several.
  • While you can avoid becoming an ass-kisser, you won't avoid having to be nice to assholes.
